Skills, Drills, & Small Games Camp - 10U & 12U - 8-12yrs (2012-2015 Birth Years)

We will work with the age groups within these camps who will be 8 to 12 years of age. As we all know, players under 12 must work on fundamentals and skills in a fun learning environment.  The skating covered will work on edges, stride backward and forward, crossover, stopping, turning, quicker starts, and transitional skating. Puck skills like passing, stickhandling, and better control will be covered in full detail. All of these skills will be taught in full detail. After the skills are improved, the staff will show how to use the skills in game situations within small area games and hockey-specific drills description.

Reading & Reacting - 14U, 16U, & 18U 13-18 yrs (2006-2011 Birth Years)

Reading and reacting is one of the most critical aspects of hockey. Each player must be able to read what is happening, anticipate correctly, and respond appropriately by moving to the appropriate space to make the play or support their teammates before the puck. As we sat, it is much easier to anticipate where the puck will be and go to a particular point in the rink ahead of it, than it is to chase it around.

In this camp, we will cover the correct diagnosis and response needed for game situations such as cycling, odd-man rushes (both for and against), power play and penalty kill, movement through the neutral zone, defensive zone coverage, offensive zone coverage, face-offs, playing away from the puck, offensive and defensive play at the puck, back-checking and fore-checking.

ATTENTION GOALTENDERS - Every RMHS camp will offer professional goaltending instruction from one of our professional goaltending coaches. We limit these spots to four goaltenders per group.

Unfortunately our kiddo got too nervous to get on the ice. He was 8 at the time of the camp. The staff was kind, and tried to help but it was too much for him. The location was awesome, the rink was great and I think it would have been a wonderful camp if he could have gotten past his fear. Next year....
