- Powerskating & Stick Skills Clinic

Program Description

Proper skating mechanics are crucial for hockey players. This camp focuses on skating, stickhandling, shooting, and passing.

Powerskating:

The areas of focus for skating will be:

  • Proper skating mechanics, forward and backward striding, and efficient skating
  • Maneuvering - edge control, crossovers, power turns, and transitioning with mohawks and pivots
  • Quick starts and stops, forward and backward.

Stick skills include:

  • Shooting mechanics - ability to shoot off either foot forehand and shooting backhand with power
  • Passing - forehand and backhand including saucer pass
  • Stickhandling and advanced stickhandling including deeks

Goalies:

Goalies will get a ton of shots during the shooting session and get shots during puck drills.  Goalies have two options: receive powerskating instruction the first half of the clinic which will improve their goaltending ability, or "Puckstopper" stopping shots the last half of the clinic.

Goalie Options:

  • Goalie Full Clinic: attend all sessions sessions.
    • Younger group - power skating instruction for the first session & stop pucks the last 3 sessions - $85
    • Older group - power skating instruction for the first 2 sessions & stop pucks the last 3 sessions - $130
  • Puck stopper: (younger & older groups) goaltending-only last 3 sessions - $35

Checking and Body Contact:

Checking can be scary for players and parents. This camp will help build confidence by focusing on safely receiving and delivering a check, and most importantly the purpose of checking.

We will also cover proper angling, puck protection, body positioning, puck battles, and skating skills related to checking. Ages 10 and above.

  • Goalies needed last 2 sessions - $25
