Program Description
Skills, Drills, & Small Games Camp - 10U & 12U - 8-11yrs (2014-2016 Birth Years)
The age groups we will work with within these camps will be 8 to 11. As we all know, players under 12 must work on fundamentals and skills in a fun learning environment. The skating covered will work on edges, stride backward and forward, crossover, stopping, turning, quicker starts, and transitional skating. Puck skills like passing, stickhandling, and better control will be covered in full detail. All of these skills will be taught in full detail. After the skills are improved, the staff will show how to use the skills in game situations within small area games and hockey-specific drills description.

Shooting, Scoring, & Conditioning Camp - 14U & 16U 12-16 yrs (2009-2013)
The full spectrum of the RMHS-developed stickhandling progression from basic dribbling to advanced puck control concepts such as puck protection and creating space will be the foundation for this camp. Also covered in depth during the stickhandling portion will be passing lanes, vision, play away from the puck, support, and the proper execution of advanced fakes and dekes. All conditioning drills will be based on the European Training Method of incorporating pucks into all skating drills to ensure appropriate puck control skills and habit development. Fundamental knowledge of properly training one's body for athletic competition will be discussed, stressing proper work-to-rest ratios, hydration, and optimal physical conditioning. Our son was the only one from his team to attend this camp, but the staff and other campers made it super fun for him and he had a great week making new friends. Even with ever changing COVID restrictions the staff did an outstanding job keeping the kids engaged and ensuring they had a great week!

My son went to the camp and was one of the older kids in his group (2004). Coach Smith let me know in advance that my son was only one of a few players his age. We felt we should still attend the camp and I'm very glad we did. My son learned a lot about himself this week, made some lifelong friends and was able to sharpen his hockey skills. It was his first experience at a camp and he loved it! I can't say enough about all of the coaches, the drills, dryland, chalktalks, the entire experience is one he will never forget. Everything was top notch! Thank you, Coach Smitty, Coach Sheamus, Coach Cisco, Coach Paddy, Coach Payner, Coach Landon, & Coach Shane for giving your time and experience to help these young athletes develop into productive young men. My kids loved this camp and were happy to go every day! Creative and fun drills kept the kids interactive. Good supervision of the kids and immediate feedback from coaches. Nice competition to create a "team" atmosphere while working on crucial hockey skills. We will continue to follow RMHS every summer and when they come to our town.
