Program Description
The 2026 Watertown Shamrocks Captains' Camp is a co-ed, week-long day camp for youth hockey players, the Watertown Shamrocks Captains Camp is built on fun, development, and a passion for the game. Hosted by first-year Shamrocks captain and collegiate player Ryan Gingher, this camp brings together leadership and experience from current Shamrocks captains and veteran players with backgrounds at the AAA, Junior, and collegiate levels.
Our mission is to provide young athletes with the skills, confidence, and hockey IQ needed to grow as both players and fans. It’s not just a great week of hockey—it’s an experience that lasts a lifetime.
Carefully structured and expertly led, the Captains Camp emphasizes individual skill development, team play, on-ice confidence, and an enjoyable environment that keeps players engaged. With instruction from athletes who have competed at some of the highest levels of the sport, campers receive both high-level insights and an unforgettable week of learning and fun.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAPTAINS CAMP
Skill Development
Our coaching staff focuses on building strong hockey foundations through skating, puck control, shooting, passing, and smart decision-making. Each player will sharpen essential skills with guidance from Shamrocks alumni and former captains.
Dynamic Warmups
Every session begins with an engaging, movement-based warmup designed to prepare athletes for high-energy training while reinforcing proper mechanics and mobility that they can incorporate into a functional routine.
Earning The “C”
A leadership-focused feature where players learn what it truly takes to wear the “C” — accountability, communication, work ethic, and raising the standard for themselves and their teammates. "C"s will be awarded to camp participants that best showcase these attributes and encourage those around them to follow suit.
On-Ice Session
Each day features a 90 minute ice session emphasizing the fundamentals: skating, passing, stickhandling, and shooting. Players receive individualized coaching, compete in small-area games, and finish the week with a full scrimmage to showcase everything they’ve learned.
Off-Ice Training/Dryland
Off-ice work will help athletes develop strength, agility, balance, and overall athleticism. Sessions combine off-ice stickhandling and shooting with speed, footwork, and plyometric training.
Team Building
Campers take part in challenges and activities that strengthen communication, trust, and camaraderie — essential traits for future leaders both on and off the ice.
Learning Session
Each day introduces a new topic focused on developing both the player and the leader. From building strong habits to understanding the path from youth hockey to the collegiate level, campers will hear firsthand from Shamrocks alumni and special guests. These sessions highlight real experiences, inspirational stories, and practical lessons designed to guide the next generation of hockey players.
Camp Apparel
Each camper will receive a Watertown Shamrocks Captains’ Camp jersey to wear with pride.
